Yes, mostly. The existing and planned transit routes coordinate with the Mueller
Design Guidelines
, which dictate which streets were planned for transit use, and which were not. In short, there shouldn't be any 45-foot buses running down narrow, local streets. Here's the lowdown on the projects I know of:
Existing Routes:Capital Metro bus routes
: #20 (Manor), #37 & 320 (E 51st, retail), #135 & 350 (Airport Blvd.)
Proposed Routes: (planning in process, funding may be in place)
Capital Metro's
Future Connections Study
includes a proposed streetcar alignment along Mueller > Phlomena > Berkman > Manor, and a
Rapid bus "Capital MetroRapid" routes including Mueller, Airport, and Berkman
Capital Metro is holding
community meetings July 28 & 30
concerning the Capital MetroRapid routes proposed for first implementation: the North Lamar/South Congress and Burnet/South Lamar routes. I plan on attending the first meeting downtown. I'm not sure when the MetroRapid might be running down Berkman, but it ain't next week. Until then, my bicycle is suitable low-capacity transit on existing
bike routes
.
