Allegedly Bad Gasoline Purchased Locally

Alexa, when I first moved into the neighborhood, I purchased gas there several times. Each time, the gas trickled out of the pump, there was no pressure to push out the gas. It took so long to fill my tank. Each time, the same man told me to stop the sale and start over to fix it. I have not ben there in two years. They clearly don't care about quality and it doesn't surprise me to hear they sold you bad gas. I go to the convenient store across the road and have nevet had a problem

Alexa, in Texas fuel quality and gas stations are regulated by the Texas Department of Agriculture. See more info and link to file a fuel complaint here: http://www.texasagriculture.gov/agr/program_render/0,1987,1848_5660_0_0,00.html?channel=5660 or you can call 1-800-TELL-TDA (1-800-835-5832) or by emailing TDA at TellTDA@TexasAgriculture.gov.

And thank you for your post. I have purchased many times there with no issues but will avoid now!

Yesterday I had the outside pump not automatically shut off at that same Shell station - completely soaked me with gas. Be very careful.

The octane of a fuel is relevant to two things. The first is how hot it has to get to burn and second, how much energy it releases when its ignited. You noted that you had filled with high test gasoline. Of course, alot depends on type and size of engine, performance requirements, and if your timing as well as other tune up requirements have been met. Too much octane could lead to misfiring. I assume your car needs high test gas, but a high octane gas with added octane booster could lead to the engine misfiring.
These things do happen, I did fill up once just as a fuel tanker was unloading diesel into a regular gas tank. My car as well as others sputtered at start and soon the gas station was filled with dead cars until someone figured out what had just happened.
On the other hand we have filled three cars up on a regular basis at this location for three years with no problems.

Buyer beware at this location. Especially since I can't even contact them to let them know about it. We may try to stop by later this morning but still they should have a telephone somewhere.

Yes, that's the only number I found too and it's out of service. :|

My car prefers high octane. It's old (2006) but this hasn't happened before.

On my first visit, about a year ago June, I attempted to pump gas and it trickled out. I didn't go back again until this August. I've been twice this month and this second time something went wrong.

That nearly happened to me too. Luckily I was standing back a little further than you and it went all over the side of the car. I attempted to get it off with the squeegee and some paper towels. Not cool.

Thanks for that link. I think I'll use it.

Thanks neighbors...
