Our house is full of quirks following this morning's storm. The garage door opener stopped working (though it seemed to be on the way out already). Both thermostats flash "Err 90" which, according to the Honeywell installation guide, means "data interface is continuously busy." And while the laptop has access to our wireless internet, the hardwired tower and server have no connectivity to the internet or each other.
Anyone else having problems? Any ideas for solutions? Help!
Well, we've identified two of the problems and corrected one. The widget got fried. It's that little black box in the OnQ box that's supposed to allow remote control of the HVAC, but Catellus has never given anyone access to the web interface. Once we unplugged it, the communication error on the thermostats disappeared and the HVAC is running again.
The monitoring device for our solar array also appears to have been damaged. The last record on the monitoring website is from 10:00 AM yesterday. It's plugged directly into an electrical outlet with no surge protector. I hope this is considered a warrantable issue since the solar installer should've thought of that. For others with solar, you may want to add a surge protector yourself if your device is accessible and does not have one.
Jasper, you may want to call AT&T and see if they register any problems. We called Time Warner yesterday. They identified that all the issues were on our end, but at least that was a place to start. Everything's working after resetting the modem and other devices.
There was a huge, very close, bolt of lightening that, I think, hit somewhere in Mueller around 10 a.m. yesterday; that's probably the cause.
A couple of years back, we had a lightening strike a tree outside our bedroom window when we were at Congress/Oltorf. It fried an atomic-clock alarm clock and made a few things screwy (speakers, etc) for a few days.
For most everything, completely disconnecting it, waiting a little bit (I'm thinking an hour or two) and reconnecting it got most everything back up for us.
Well, there wasn’t much electronic damage in our area. But we had to call Fire Damage Restoration Knoxville, IA, as one of the trees was caught on fire because of the wire. Thankfully the matter was restored.
I was sad to hear about the Electronic damage to your house in the storm today. I can fix those damages if you let me visit the site. Please let me know if you are in need of my help.
