Biking and Jogging Trails Surface?
by Kevin Ludlow on September 7th, 2007

Does anyone know what the biking and jogging trails surfaces will be?

I'm guessing that the developer would want to use some sort of asphalt b/c it would look 'appealing' but I think most people would prefer some sort of gravel like town lake or the like.

Maybe we could even get that sponge-like material that real tracks are comprised of? ...I have seen a community or two with those in the Houston area.

Maybe decomposed granite...

It's cheap, easy, and looks nice.

At one of the Mueller Commission meetings they mentioned it would be decomposed granite except for the areas that lie in the 100 year flood plain (Lake Park) where it will be concrete.

I took this photo this morning at the north west playground by the children's hospital. Looks like that other picture stuff. There was a whole trail of it. BTW, the playground there is awesome. I can't wait for it to be filled with other kids.

The path behind Fire Station 14 is decomposed granite, as are every other non-flood plain trail I've seen.
