Hi Everyone - Just wanted to post a link to my solar blog for anyone that's interested: http://www.zabreznik.com

The system went live on Friday at 11:25am. Yesterday was my first full day of production and I was pleasantly surprised to see the system pumped 50.57 kWh. Curious to see today's production numbers with all the cloud cover. Joe Z

Joe - that's awesome! Congrats on being up and running. I was just noticing your panels on my dog-walk yesterday, and wondered if you were yet producing.

Got your blog RSS'ed, will look forward to seeing how things go! We're hoping to do solar as well someday (we're also in a Moore Hill, over on Mattie) so you'll provide excellent information for us!

AE just installed our solar read meter today. We're up and running too. Kind of anticlimactic with the rain but we're thrilled. I might have just enough solar power today to run the ice machine in the fridge for a scotch on the rocks to celebrate.

Cheers,

Dan

Congratulations Solar Neighbors! I was quite surprised to see that November still gave our little panels almost 80% of the August output.

I'm interested to see how productive we all are. I bet Mr. Smith is still in the lead ;)

I'm not going to be able to touch Joe - his system is 60% bigger than mine. But, we did do 95% of our electricity in November off the panels. If it had been less cloudy I'm sure we could've broken 100%. Here are my average daily Kwh for the months the system has been in:

Nov Oct Sep Aug Jul
27.7 24.6 27.0 39.6 40.3

So I've noticed that on overcast days like yesterday system production is dismally low. I'm wondering if everyone else is experiencing production numbers as low as mine. Would like to see what kind of numbers other Mueller Community neighbors produced yesterday to see if everyone is in the same boat. If you could post your system size and energy yield for yesterday it would be much appreciated.

Here are my production numbers: Friday, Dec. 11th - System size 12.425 kW - Energy yield 6.78 kWh.

Thanks,
Joe Z.

Joe, yesterday I produced about the same as you. Not sure what kind of panel you have, but I'm guessing it's the less expensive ones since you have a lot of roof space. Since my roof space was at a premium, I went with an upgraded panel (I would've only been about to do 5.6 kW with the less expensive panels). That bumped me up to 7.8kW and also my Samsung HIT panels have an amorphous technology that causes them to perform better in low light and high temps - the former being how my smaller system was able to perform the same as yours on a cloudy day.

Michael - Are you referring to production numbers on Friday or Saturday? In my post above I was referencing Friday. For Saturday, yesterday, I produced a little more (7.36kWh). So what I'm really looking for is the correlation between production and total system size. That way we can compare different systems regardless of total size. Take my system for example. On Friday I produced 6.78kWh and my system size is 12.425 giving me a ratio of 54.57% when I divide production by system size. On Saturday that ratio was higher since I produced more power (59.24%). Could you provide your production numbers for Friday and Saturday so that we can see the correlation?

Also, Garreth, if you're out there, could you let us know what type of panels you have? I was thinking you also had the Samsungs like Michael but not sure.

Thanks, Joe
