Admittedly, I remember getting something in the mail about this, but i've misplaced it, and can't seem to find anything about it already on the boards.

But I've got some yard waste for pickup or for me to bring somewhere. can anyone inform me on procedure in the neighborhood, or a good place to drop some off?

This thread discussed bulky pickup. There is a link in there for the city's bulk pickup program. I'm assuming it's discussed in there:

If you are talking about grass/leaves and old dead or discarded plants, then just put the waste in the brown yard bags available at Home Depot with your regular trash on Friday morning. The city has special trucks that pick up yard waste on our trash days.

They do recycle.

I don't know how much yard waste you have, but you might also consider composting...or offering it to a neighbor who does compost. As plant matter breaks down, it improves the quality of the soil. Given how bad our compacted clay soil is around here, compost is great for your yard.

Just a word of caution with regard to weeds. Unless your compost really generates some heat I would not add any weeds to the mix. There is just too much chance you will just spread them later. Better to keep the grass clippings and weeds separate.
