Pay what you can afford Kundalini Yoga class - starts Aug 2014
by Grace on June 22nd, 2014

Just putting the word out about a "pay what you can afford" yoga class that's starting up in August. I'm going to start a Kundalini Yoga class twice a week at The City Theater on Airport Blvd (near 38th 1/2, by KOOP radio). Even if it doesn't interest you, I would appreciate your liking the Facebook page I created and/or letting other people know about it. My hope is that anyone who *wants* to do yoga will not let the cost keep them from giving it a try. The Facebook page has more details about days, times, etc. Thanks for your support! http://www.facebook.com/yogamueller

Any chance of "gentle", slow yoga for senior citizens? Most yoga classes go WAY too fast for me....

lasp4448 - It's going to be a "one-size-fits-most" type of class, not geared toward gentle yoga for seniors, but neither will it be "vinyasa flow level 6", whatever the really fit people are doing these days, lol. All I can tell you is that Kundalini is very different. If you're looking for a gentle stretching class, this probably will be irritating to your expectations. In this type of yoga we do a lot of easy movements in conjunction with (at times) intense breathing exercises. For example, it would be very common to be seated on the floor, cross legged, and flexing your spine back and forth while you inhale and exhale with the movement. You might do this for three minutes or more. I'm using it as an example because maybe you can get an idea that it's kind of easy to do, but it could also be intense depending on how fast you wanted to move back and forth and how intensely you wanted to do your breathing. Everyone would be moving and breathing at a different pace, so there is room for lots of different levels of activity, depending on how you feel that day.

Anyway, it really wouldn't hurt my feelings if you wanted to try it for yourself sometime, and then you walked out because it wasn't what you wanted to spend your time doing. So, up to you. Anyone (well, any adult) is welcome to come and give it a try.

If you were to go to Youtube.com and do a search on "kundalini yoga", there would be many, many videos you could sample and get a better idea what a typical class is like.

C.F. - awesome! Glad to have you be part of it. I'm excited too.
