Google Fiber!

Hi everyone,

Great news! This morning as I was pulling out of my garage on upper Camacho Stree I spotted three men in yellow vests. I asked them what they were doing, and they told me that they were from the Google Fiber engineering team and were surveying the Mueller community for Google fiber installation. They added that completion and installation in Mueller is still about a year and a half out.

I emailed Grande Communications requesting that they consider providing service here. There are good and bad reviews for every ISP. Having another choice here should be a good thing.

A Google rep answered a question for me on a chat line (box). I asked regarding the $300 one-time ($25/month for 1 year) fee for 5Mb download / IMb upload service (when it becomes available in Mueller). For apartment renters, that fee will be expected from management. A renter cannot pay that fee. This is going to get complicated as it seems that the other service plans may be available for individual signups. So what happens if you take an apt that used to have basic service? dunno.(I didn't ask since I would rather not pay $70 a month for a mailbox and basic search service, if I can help it). BTW, I've got 54Mb fiber service now in Madrid, Spain. It was the only choice I had. At around $60 / month, it is great. I have not had a single glitch in 3 months. Still, $60 / month is a lot, In My Humble Opinion, but here it includes cell phone service! REF: Movistar

Well it's EOM August 2017, two and a half years have past since my last related post. I was at the Mueller HEB today and there's a Google kiosk as you enter. Google Fiber 100 is available for $50/month. WHAT HAPPENED TO FREE OR A ONE-TIME FEE?

I wasn't able to return to the Mueller area after a year in Spain. I ended up in NW Austin, where my Grande internet 100 mbps service has been at $50/month for almost 2 years. So it looks like even a reduced fee Google Fiber service was A LIE.
