St Pac Kitchen Cabinets
by Karen_Zab on January 22nd, 2008

Posting on behalf of another St Pac purchaser who has not had any luck getting access to post on Muellercommunity.com:

Maybe you can help me to post this on the Mueller community and I am going to write an email to the VP of SPH, this is kind of joke that I cannot stand.

On the blanton plan, we are having 2 corners in the kitchen that are waste in space, the cabinet they put in did not utilize the storage areas at all. When I mentioned this to Sandra, she told us to talk to the design center about this. I emailed the design center about this because it is really strange that they will select some cabinets that did not utilize the storage space in the kitchen, and I think this should be a standard features instead of an upgrade.(BTW, I paid for the 2 corner spaces and now I cannot use
the space that I paid for, should I get a credit instead? what a joke?)
Of course, the answer from the design center is that "useable corner is an upgrade and it is $225 per corner", how far can they go, the next time they can say is "useable dish washer is an upgrade", it is just amazing and frustrating to deal with those folks..

Joey should feel somewhat lucky to have a reasonably priced corner option. With our builder, we only had a lazy-susan option for a bagazillion dollars.

For whatever reason, it is just not a standard production builder practice to do anything useful in the kitchen corners.

From a company that charges $225 for a #&%@$ medicine cabinet in the bathroom, I am not surprised by this.

Really, how many of the 6 builders at Mueller charge for medicine cabinets?

Hi Karen,

Just so you know, Joey should be able to login without any problems now.

Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Thanks McClud.

Is this so unusual? I've never bought a new home but are the upgrade option prices St Pac has so unusual? I just assumed it was the popcorn and soda at the movies - it's how they make their $$.

Thanks Karen and McClud,

I can post message now...

Just an update on the cabinet. there is also a appliance garage in the blanton and Roberts floor plan that was placed next to the cooktop, it
restricted the countertop space. I submitted a request to have it relocate next to the refrigrator and was denied. I submitted another request to
have it removed. The VP of purchasing replied and said the design was
bad and they now offered customer to have the appliance garage removed for $250, what a joke. Are we paying SPH to fix their own design problem ??? I had sent a letter to SPH Austin President to complain.

SPH is now offering to remove the appliance garage at NO charge.

------------------- message from SPH ---------------------------------
we will be offering this option at no charge to all of our Blanton and Roberts purchasers provided that that their home is not past the foundation stage....which is our cut off date for this option. I have received management approval on this and will be contacting the purchasers to make them aware of this option. Thank you. Sandra
