Austin Children's Museum Needs Your Recyclable Items...
by Threadgill Gal on July 29th, 2011

Calling at Neighbors!!!

Austin Children's Museum has a Design Center where kids take everyday materials (such as paper towel tubes, bottle caps, yarn & glue) to design & build their own fun creations!

It's been a VERY BUSY summer and we are running low on supplies so please save your recyclable items (see wish list below) and feel free to drop them off on my front porch! I have 2 boxes sitting on my porch, but feel free to bring your own bags/boxes and leave them on the porch at 4017 Threadgill Street (Threadgill @ Emma Long). If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

All items must be clean, dry and in good order.

What we accept:
-toilet paper/paper towel tubes
-yogurt/plastic cups (washed)
-plastic containers
-paper/cardboard boxes (no cereal boxes)
-Styrofoam egg cartons
-spools
-corks
-film canisters
-plastic bottle caps
-used CDs
-paper: 8 by 8 inches or larger
-cardboard: 8 by 8 inches or larger
-yarn or string: 1 foot or longer
-fabric: 8 by 8 inches or larger
-materials that will inspire creativity in young minds. for example; wires, bulldog clips, clothespins, magnets, paperclips, etc.
-any design materials, materials books (carpet books, fabric books, material samples, etc)

What we do not accept:
-card fronts
-small pieces of fabric, paper, and cardboard
-pill bottles
-cardboard egg cartons
-magazines
-milk/juice containers
-anything glass
-anything dangerous to young children (such as sharp objects, chemical containers, etc.)

To decrease the workload for our volunteers please sort your donations into bags of like items.

Thanks so much to all the neighbors who have PM'd me or dropped off your recyclables on my porch! Please keep your egg cartons, yogurt cups, bottle caps, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, crafts and other reusable materials coming. I'll be collecting things through the rest of August and into September if needed.

We had a huge bag full of old cd's - the kids in camp are using the cd cases as makeshift greenhouses by puting a little soil and bean seeds in the cases and watching them grow!
