Question about Lumber/Materials being Taken From Contruction Sites
by danyalekb on August 11th, 2009

Since all these thefts have been occurring, I have been driving around a little and checking things out.

Just to be sure, I wanted to ask everyone to see if Meritage (or any other builder for that matter) is okay with people coming by homes under construction and taking lumber and material? I think it was leftover, but the wood I saw someone hauling off on top of there SUV still looked in good condition. If it is not okay, I got the make/model/color/license plate of the vehicle removing the materials. It was on Threadgill Street tonight. Neighbors, if you know, please advise me on what I should do. I am not familiar with procedures for materials used/ discarded by builders. Thanks.

Good on ya. I'd report the information to the builder (Weekley, I think?) and let them decide how to use it.

I'd let the builder know about it. Could be theft, could be a worker moving material from one site to another (maybe)

Just wanted to update everyone on what I found out in case you also see it going on:

I did call my warranty manager (Mike Alvarado) with David Weekley Homes and he said that all the builders out there have a strict "No Salvage" Policy. He suggested I report it to the builder and make a police report. I will probably call the builder first just to make sure they do not have a worker with the vehicle information I obtained. I wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble uneccessarily.
